The Victorian Child and Adolescent Outcomes Framework

The Outcomes Framework for Victoria’s Children and Adolescents

This Child Outcomes bulletin has been reproduced with thanks to the Statewide Outcomes for Children division of the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development. The Outcomes Framework for Victoria’s children and adolescents includes the safety, health, learning, development and wellbeing from birth to 18; reflecting an ecological model that places the child at the centre of family, community and society.

BULLYING

Better Health Channel

Bullying is ongoing physical or verbal aggression by a child or children against other children. It can have detrimental effects on all involved, including the bully. Schools have a responsibility to ensure a safe environment and should have policies to deal with bullying. Parents can help by supporting their child, helping them to develop coping techniques and speaking to the school.

Children and Road Safety

Better Health Channel

Young children do not have the skills to stay safe in traffic. They often can’t see past parked cars and they don’t have the experience to judge the speed and distance of an oncoming car. Parents and carers should teach children good traffic safety habits early. Also, ask your child’s school or pre-school to consider road safety education programs.

More than 130 Victorian primary schools will be able to install bicycle sheds, create café-style school canteens, establish kitchen gardens, and upgrade their playgrounds in the first round of a $3.5 million State Government program.
